Group classes are wonderful. But sometimes you need something that's entirely about you. Your voice, your work, your next step.
That's what these sessions are for. Fifty minutes of focused, one-on-one time with Keita, built entirely around where you are and where you want to go.
Vocal Coaching
Whether you're just finding your voice or ready to take it further, these sessions are shaped around where you are right now. Every voice is different. Every session is different.
You'll work on what actually moves you forward, not a generic curriculum.
In your session we might work on:
Vocal warmups and technique exercises
Improving tone, pitch, and range
Breath control and vocal health
Performance coaching and confidence
Songs you actually love
You'll leave with practical exercises and clear next steps to keep the momentum going between sessions.

What they'll build:
Stronger pitch accuracy and timing through focused ear training

Led by Keita Selina
Hi, I'm Keita. A singer, artist, and teacher with over two decades in the arts. I started the singing groups in Pemberton because I wanted a place where kids could explore their voices without pressure, comparison, or fear of getting it wrong.
Every session includes vocal warm-ups, music games, group song practice, and individual song study. It's structured enough to build real skills, and relaxed enough that kids genuinely look forward to it each week.
Performance Philosophy
Building true confidence in performing takes time. If the group decides to showcase their talents, you, or your child may or may not feel ready for a solo, and that's perfectly okay. We support each student's individual growth at their own pace.
What Parents Say…
“She is so knowledgeable and easy going and my daughter absolutely loves her”
-Kaitlyn T.
“Kind, warm, and a lovely human being. She made our daughter feel so confident that she couldn’t help but shine! :)”
-Imogen C.
Our sessions offer more than just vocal lessons; they provide a nurturing environment where your child can build confidence, express creativity, and form lasting friendships.
Adult Singing Circle
The Adult Singing Circle wrapped up a successful pilot earlier this year, and it was everything we hoped it would be: warm, a little chaotic, surprisingly moving, and a lot of fun.
We're planning the next round for later in 2025. Details — including dates, location, and how to register — will be posted on the booking page as soon as they're confirmed.
If you'd like to be first to know, join the mailing list below or keep an eye on the booking page.

"She made something that was intimidating to me (singing)… into a warm, playful, space."
— Lisa R., Singing Circle participant
Common questions
-
Songbirds is for beginner singers in Grades K–4 — it's foundational, playful, and focused on building a healthy relationship with singing. Sing Squad is for Grades 5–10 with some singing experience, diving deeper into harmony, performance, and technique. Age and experience are the guide: if they're in Grade 4 or younger, Songbirds. Grade 5 and up with some singing behind them, Sing Squad.
-
Each round runs 10–13 weeks during the school term, aligned as closely as possible with School District 48's calendar. We run three rounds per year: September–December, January–Spring Break, and Spring Break–Summer Break.
-
Yes — a free trial day is available for the first class of each round. Email hello@artbykeita.com to let Keita know your child is coming so she can plan accordingly.
-
A water bottle and a good attitude. Lyrics or song materials are provided during sessions. Please skip the snacks — it's hard to sing with a full mouth, and it keeps the focus on the music.
For after school groups, please make sure your child has had a quick snack before the session starts.
-
Sessions are child-focused, and having parents in the room can sometimes make kids more self-conscious. Parents are welcome to wait outside, in the foyer, or nearby.
Keita sends regular email updates on what the group is working on, and parents are invited to showcase performances at the end of each round.
-
That's exactly who these groups are designed for. Confidence is built slowly and gently — solos are always optional, and no child is ever put on the spot. Many of Keita's most confident current singers started out barely making a sound.
-
I strive to create a nurturing and respectful environment where every child feels valued and supported. To maintain this atmosphere, I ask that parents discuss the following expectations with their children:
Full Body Listening: Encourage your child to use their eyes, ears, and body to show they are paying attention while others are singing. This means looking at the performer, staying quiet, and being still.
Respect and Encouragement: Highlight the importance of being respectful and encouraging to their peers with a cheer and applause at the end of their song. Every child deserves to feel valued and heard.
Focus and Patience: Remind your child that waiting their turn and listening attentively helps everyone learn and perform better.
These expectations help us create a collaborative and positive learning environment where all children can thrive. Your support in reinforcing these values at home is greatly appreciated, by enrolling your child you agree that they would be required to meet these expectations.
-
Encouraging regular practice by listening to their songs once or twice per day at home can significantly boost your child's progress. I know we all get sick of hearing the same songs over and over again (baby shark anyone?!😆) but it really is how they learn best - so some child friendly headphones can be a real sanity saver!
